Words cannot express how excited I am for this Sleeping Beauty remake. The devastatingly gorgeous Angelina Jolie is killing it as Maleficent.
From the trailer, it seems that Disney has told the story from the point of view of the villain. This has once again caused me to question my moral compass and have serious dress envy for the bad witch herself.
The trailer shows Jolie’s Maleficent having dark angel like wings looking nothing like the tiny little fairies of the other, lighter sort. Also, Aurora, played by Elle Fanning, seems to have formed a timid friendship with Jolie’s character.
The room that Disney has made for itself to explore the development of the characters is amazing. Maleficent now seems to be the object of some sort of mutilation at the hands of a man and Aurora was the vehicle for revenge. It adds a layer of romanticism to a story who’s original version is disgustingly dark. I can already feel myself cheering for the misunderstood Maleficent and her army of creepy tree ents.
Enough with the fangirling, check out the trailer on Youtube or on the official site here.
What part of this movie are you most looking forward to? The giant dragon attack, the terrifying yet some how seductive Jolie, or the Narnia-esque battle scene sneak peaked in the trailer?
